Looking for some Small Business Ideas to get your small business off the ground?
Over the past 18 years I have been asked by lots of people how did I know what small business to go into?
It is hard to say what "gave us the idea" initially but generally it was an opportunity that "just came up".
Simple as that really ...
We just seemed to grab the opportunities as they can along.
You do need to be on the lookout for the new ideas and opportunities as they present themselves.
I have heaps of pages that can help if you want to start your own small business and you are stuck for ideas to start a small business. 365 Small Business Ideas, Proven Small Business Ideas, 500 Small Business Ideas, and Top 10 Small Business Ideas are just a few that will get your creative juices flowing and show you that there is no limit to starting your own small business.
Before going into a small business you need to think about what you love to do -- your passion.
Like you need to do happy dances you are so enthusiastic about your idea! Seriously!!
I know it ridiculous but so many people go into business because they are good at what they do and they think that they can do it better than their boss.
Not the best idea ...
There is A LOT involved with running a business and I hate to break it to you but you will spend HEAPS of time doing stuff that you hate to do (finance, sales, etc)!
If you don't have the real happy dance type of passion for what you will be doing 15 hours a day (generally unless you setup the right systems) you will end up just like your boss! :-)
I have put together a worksheet for people that are interested in starting a small business to brainstorm some smallbiz ideas that would suit you and your individual situation the best.
Click here for my free worksheet to brainstorm your passions and a niche that suits you
When you are working your way through the worksheet you will find thoughts and ideas come to you that you might have thought about but not necessarily linked to starting your own small business.
When you are working in a business there are so many opportunities come up that it is really hard to know which one to focus on!
When I look at new ideas and opportunities I want to first get the stats that I need (usually through finance and marketing) to make a decision on what to do first.
There is no point in spending a whole heap of my time and my teams time in focusing on something that is not going to benefit my customers or my business.
Am I right??
Here are some specific ideas for areas that I consider really important to evaluate in your decision making.
With the social media marketing and all the information on the internet it is so easy to find out what your customers want.
And why not give them what they want ... yes?
All the social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc) can give you insights into the demographics of your customers and what their interests are.
There are also lots of small business marketing services, consultants, social media marketing tools and heaps more.
Getting your finances right in business is A MUST.
You need to be strategic, systemised and organised.
If you aren't each of the above your business will come crashing down ... believe me ... I have been there when big creditors haven't paid and then closed down and it hurts ... big time!
It affects everyone.
Repeat after me...
I will be strategic with my finances.
I will be systemised with my finances.
I will be organised with my finances.
If not, you may as well give up!
What's the point in working really hard to build your business up to not get paid?
If you don't want to do it, please please please get yourself someone that can help you. Promise me that.
